I'm Thirty Years Old...OMG!

I can't believe that it has finally happened - I'm thirty! It is one of those funny things that just creeps up on ya. I seriously remember turning 21 and getting hell from everyone that I work with about how they couldn't wait for me to get OLD and turn 30. Well what's funny is now that I've turned thirty they are all getting closer to forty; so nothing much really changes. Age is just relative to to where you are at the time..."OLD" at 10 was 18, "OLD" at 21 was 30 - "OLD" at 30...well I just don't know anymore, I guess I will be old when I feel old, right? I certainly don't feel old now. I love my life - it's not perfect but it's mine...no one else gets to be me and I actually think that's pretty cool!

The Dirty Side of Turning Thirty

Okay - so we started the night at Splitsville which is this really cool bowling alley. We had a great time but when our time was up with the lanes, we decided to go back to our house to continue the party. Everything was fine - I was five beers in and feeling young and happy! Then it happened... the clock struck midnight and I was actually 30 and things started going down hill fast! We started playing drinking games - one quick game of up/down the river and things were definitely on the path to no good. Then Kimmie asked if we had any liquor; I told her she could check the bar but that I didn't think so. Wouldn't you know it? She came back with a about a third of a bottle of some nasty cheap tequilla. Oh no! One shot of that led to a double beer bong, which led to a partial bottle MD 20/20. No Ma'am! What was I thinking??? Who drinks Mad Dogg at thirty??? Within about 15 minutes I went from fine to throwing up and crying over the toilet for a couple of hours! I felt terrible on Sunday; it had been years since I had been that hungover - what a waste of a Sunday! I was also feeling pretty bad thinking I was the only one who drank that much...until I saw the pictures below. They made me feel much better - glad to know I wasn't the only party girl! Ha Ha! Here's to our dirty thirties!!

Three Bath Day

Well last Sunday Hudson had a pretty good day. You can always measure a good day by how many baths you had. (At least for a little boy you can!) He started out the day with fresh blueberry pancakes made by momma - yummy!

He ate them all up and was sticky and covered in blueberries and syrup...first bath 9am!

Then once he was fresh and clean and dressed for the day - it was time to go straight into the backyard and play in the sandbox. Now I know what your thinking - he was all sandy and dirty and had to get a another bath - WRONG! Playing in the sandbox or "being sandy" does not constitute a mid-day bath around the Mays' household...so what does...UM how about stepping in dog poop? YUCK! Daddy tried to rinse it off with the water hose, which I am sure was a lot of fun but certainly did not do the job! Back into the house for a second bath! (sorry - no pics taken during that ordeal!)

Then I left for Ashley's baby shower and God knows what went on while I was gone! When I got home Hud was asleep and Nolan and Daddy left to go fishing with PaPa. When poor pitiful Hudson woke up and realized he had been deserted, I decided to take him on a walk and to the park. We took a grilled cheese sandwich and milk with us for dinner on the walk!

Once Hudson was unleashed from the stroller I was amazed at what a big boy he has become. This was our first trip to the park in a few months and what a difference it made! This was the first place he ran to and started climbing I never expected him to get that high that fast or I certainly wouldn't have been taking pics from 15 ft away!!

These are pics of all the big boy things he did:

Play a tune...

Slide down the slide without needing anyone to catch...

Swing...

and then while swinging realized that the ground is covered with nasty dusty pea-gravel...

and want to pick it up and play with it, lick it and throw it - BIG FUN!

It was then time to go home and take the third and final bath of the day!

And even though it was the third bath and there had been lots of time for playing. We still had one very upset dude when it was time to get out!

Ashley's Baby Shower for the Twins

All I can say is pink...pink cake, pink punch, pink presents with tons of sweet pink baby items inside! LOVE IT! You know me, I'm a sucker for all that cute baby girl stuff and this shower was chalk full of it! Ashley is having twin girls (Allie and Emily) technically due in 8 weeks but could come any day since it's multiples. Can't wait to meet these sweet baby girls! What can I say but I'm tickled pink!

Fabulous Fifites

My Aunt Debbie turned 55 last month. Her sister and mother had planned a surprise party this month. They worked really hard to make sure she was surprised and they went all out for the event. It was at a little burger place and people even dressed up in 50's style clothing. They hired an Elvis impersonator (who happens to be a close friend to them) and he sang all kinds of oldies. They did a limbo, hula-hoop and air guitar contest and the boys had a blast!! My aunt is SO much fun - I just love her to pieces!

One more Nolan story...

I just thought of another funny thing Nolan said a few weeks ago. We were driving and passed a four-wheeler that was for sale on the side of the road. Nolan asked "Hey Mom, how much torque do you think that four-wheeler has?" I don't even really know what torque means so I asked him what it meant and of course he just looked at me like I was dumb and said that it means power. He then went on mumbling in the backseat about his PowerWheels "Wonder how we could get my John Deere Gator to get better traction? Maybe if we could find some big rubberbands and wrap them on the wheels? You know, those plastic tires just don't grip the ground." Seriously? Is he ridiculous or what? Sometimes I feel like I am raising an old man instead of a kid in pre-k.

Nolan, Oh Nolan!

My kid is so funny sometimes. I wish that I would stop to post all of the things that he has done and said over the past 4 (yikes almost 5) years. The other day Hudson was trying to play with one of his cars. It happens to be a more expensive one because it's remote controlled but whatever - it's just a car! One of probably 10,000 at our house! Anyways Hudson got from Nolan's room and wanted to play with it and Nolan started throwing a fit and said "Hudson can't play with that Mustang - It's delicate." I thought that was a hilarious word for him to use to describe the car and I asked him what delicate meant and he just looked at me and said "Mom, it means like ya know...fragile." Maybe it's not that funny to anyone else but it was really funny when he used the words fragile and delicate in the same conversation and about 90% of the toys in their rooms are banged up, left in the rain or have been burried in the sandbox at one time or another. OH BOYS!!
