Yesterday we had a follow up visit with the ENT for Hudson. He had another ear infection last week and so they requested that we come in so they could check his adenoids after he finished the antibiotics. They still look enlarged and swollen so they scheduled him for tubes and adenoid removal on May 14th. Poor Baby!! I hated to hear it, but I know that it's for the best - we just can not keep going through this. I do not want my child on antibiotics full time. Anyways, I wanted to share that information but that was not really the point of this post...
We arrived at the dr's office and I set him down in the play area of the waiting room with a few other kids. I walked to the counter and checked us in and paid the co-payment, etc. I heard Hudson say "Mommy, Gum!" But I didn't know what he was talking about. When I finished with the receptionist, I walked over to him and he proudly showed me his hand with a half chewed piece of a red gummy something....not something even little like a gummy bear - no something big like the size of half a candy bar. Whatever it was, it was sticky, half eaten and had carpet fuzzies stuck all to it. Um, disgusting. I then noticed that Hudson's mouth already had red around it and knew then that he had already stuck it in his mouth. Um, even MORE disgusting! I was freaking out a little of course because you start thinking Where is that from? Who else chewed on it? What kind of germs did he just get? and then I really started to panic when I thought about taking it away from him. He is certainly not a quiet child, especially when he is crying. He is so loud and such a screamer! I dead serious had the split second thought - Should I just let him eat it? I mean he is already exposed to whatever germs are on it!! You know it's bad when you think something like that! I tried to tell him it was nasty and tried to get him to help me throw it away which didn't work and then he knew I was on to him. He ran back to the little play area and I had to chase him down. He shoved it in his mouth while screaming "Mommy no, Mommy candy!" I had to excavate it from his mouth while he was screaming and kicking. I then went and threw it in the trash and pulled out a wipie to try to get it off my hands and do damage control on Hudson's face and light yellow shirt. Sticky red yuck was everywhere!! He was so upset that I was able to do all of that while he held his breath, turned purple and almost passed out! I had to blow in his face to make him catch his breath. I swear it was like a full 20 seconds before he started to scream. Once he started, it was at the top of his lungs he continued to scream for about 10 minutes straight. I felt so sorry for everyone in the waiting room. He threw himself down and I tried to pick him up which made him scream louder then when I tried to set him back down he screamed even louder. I walked out of the lobby into the atrium of the office building with him. He continued to scream. People came from the upper levels of the building to look over the rail down the screaming two year old. A nurse from Dr. Lowery's office even came from the back and tried to give him a toy - which he turned his head and threw the toy down to the ground. It was awful, seriously the worst fit in the history of all fits within the Mays household. And let me tell you the Mays boys (including Daddy) know how to it! :) After about 10 minutes, this big guy came out of a different Dr's office and walked over to us. Hudson saw the stranger and freaked out and got up from the floor and crawled into my lap and buried his head in my shoulder. The man talked to me for a second about the "terrible twos" and then walked off. Hudson just sat there silent for a minute and then started to stiffen up again like he remembered that he was mad - I just stopped him in his tracks by saying "Don't start crying again, that man might come back!" and so he stopped. Poor baby, had to threaten him with a stranger but at that point anything that worked was fine with me. A few minutes later the nurse called us back and the WHOLE office staff came out to see Hudson. They all wanted to see "who was making all that noise". He was fine by then, happy normal Hudson. It was super embarrassing but what else could I do but laugh about it later. After the visit they gave him a dum-dum. Ugh! Usually I hide them and throw them away, I hate the sticky mess...but after the candy drama I let the baby have it! :)

Grayson turns 3!
On Saturday we went over to Stevi and Jamey's house to join in all the fun at the jumping party for Grayson's b-day. They rented a bounce house and already have a big trampolene in the backyard. The kids all had a blast and the weather turned out great after a pretty rainy morning. We are so lucky to be close to all of our friends sweet babies! It was a nice way to spend a Saturday afternoon! Happy Birthday Grayson!

Ditto Carnival
Nicole teaches kindergarten at Ditto Elementary and they were having a school carnival on Friday night. She invited us to go and of course we couldn't pass it up! Nolan was pretty lucky that night and won the "Coke" walk and a couple of other games. He was so funny when they handed him a big 2 liter of soda as his prize for the Coke walk...he just turned around with this confused look on his face and said "Is this big drink just for me?" Like he was gonna just drink out of it. I explained that we could open it when we got home. Hudson was just excited to get his fat little hands on a package of Smarties - that kid LOVES candy! Mike's sister Krista came too with her oldest daughter Jaden. Nolan and Hudson love those girls and they all had a great time. We finished the night with dinner at Campoverde and then they came back to our house to let the kiddos play. They stayed up until almost midnight - even Hudson made it. I couldn't believe it. My plan was to put him too bed when he had a meltdown (like they always do when they don't get a nap or are up past bedtime) but I guess he was having too much fun playing with the big kids to realize that he was tired!

A Duck Out of Water
For the past few weeks we have had these two ducks just hanging around in our neighborhood. They seem to be lost or something, but completely content just hanging out in our front yard and in the street puddles. Nolan said that they are "puddle ducks" - whatever that means! Anyways we decided to go out and feed them some old bread and see if they would come close - they came right up and ate! They were within petting distance and the boys thought it was so cool. When it was time to go in the boys still wanted to watch them from the window for a while. I had to take a few pictures!

Easter
Wow! Another great holiday for our family! We are SO blessed! They day went fast - but it sure was fun! We woke up to find that the Easter Bunny had visited our house! Nolan and Hudson were really excited to find baskets full of goodies and eggs hidden all over the living room. He brought them some cute new clothes, matchbox cars, airplanes, balls and lots of other fun stuff! We went to Grandma's for lunch and a picnic that was a little cold. Conner (Uncle C or "O-C" as Hudson says) made his first brisket which was great. Aunt B brought special eggs for Nolan and Hudson to hunt. She hid them in Grandma's living room and there was even a "golden egg" which Nolan found in a plant! She had put some of those little capsules that you put in hot water and then they open into little foam things in the eggs. They had fun putting them in water and seeing what shapes they were. Then it was off to Granny and PaPa's house where they played games with Tia (my Aunt Paula) and Aunt Cindy. We finished off the day at MiMi and PaPa's house where we cooked out steaks and the boys played with Hunter. What a day!
Family Egg Hunt
Addyson was hilarious with this sweet candy face - her teeth were covered in something red sticky and yummy!
check out these two...Hudson was SO excited to get a CapriSun (we never let him have them cause it's such a mess, he just wants to squeeze it, and Grayson with the store bought cookie (with transfat and high fructose corn syrup which Stevi tries to avoid for him when possible)they were in hog heaven! Didn't even wanna look up for the camera.
We had an egg hunt with some of our friends and their kiddos at the park on Saturday afternoon. Nolan and Hudson were party animals that day! Scott had taken Nolan to a Easter party out in Midlothian with some of his family and I had taken Hud to Kennedy's party and then we just met up at the park at 3 for the egg hunt. Hudson fell asleep in the car and got a 30 minute power nap and was then recharged for more party fun. The kids had a good time and I was glad they were able to hunt eggs at the park because it rained on Sunday so the egg hunts were in the house which is not quite as exciting. After a full day of birthday cake, CANDY, juice boxes, cookies, they boys were on a sugar high they finally gave out in the sandbox after the hunt. Our boys were sticky, filthy and super tired! Daddy took them home, threw them in the bath and got pj's on - I ran to Target to get the last minute items need for Easter and brought home dinner. Everyone ate and the boys were in bed by 7:30 without a single complaint. It was a great day.
