Earth Angels
Hudson is talking all the time these days - some of it is in English. He gets really upset when we are in the car and he sees something and wants us to acknowledge it but we didn't see it so we have no idea what he is talking about. He will just keep yelling the word at us and we keep guessing but don't seem to figure it out. I remember going through this with Nolan too and I really feel for them at this age. I know it's frustrating and we just try our best to work through it until the mystery is solved! A few days ago we were coming home from a walk and there was an empty water bottle left in the stroller. Hudson started saying something over and over again but it was certainly nothing like "water bottle" yet he was reaching for it. I thought; oh, he must want to play with the water bottle, so I handed it too him. As soon as it was in his little hands he took off for the garage. I had no idea what he was doing. He opened the door and ran outside and threw the bottle into the recycling bin, came back into the house and shut the door. I was super impressed and of course then realized that he was saying "recycling bin". WOW! That would have NEVER have been a word that I would have guessed for a 22 month old. It was so cute. I have to save all the boxes and bottles and stuff for Nolan to go put in the bin. I just set them on the edge of the counter and he knows that's his pile for the night. Now Nolan and Hudson have to take turns throwing stuff out there and have actually been fighting over it. Maybe they will grow up and save the planet? Or maybe just each have a route driving the recycling trucks instead of garbage trucks - a mom can dream, can't she?

Mock - Ing - Bird - Ing
Nolan was funny last night with his so serious self. Hey Mom, the mockingbird is our state bird. Do you know how the Mockingbird got it's name? Because they "mock" other birds. What was funny is that he used the air quotes hand-motion when he said "mock". Where did he learn that from? It cracked me up!
I was going through old pics and thinking about how sad I am that I didn't have a blog back then. I thought I would attach a few pics from when we took Nolan to the Zoo on 3/22/2006. He loved feeding the birds! He was exactly Hudson's age in these pictures at almost two years old...so sad because he was so little!!

Emlyn's 3rd Birthday
Sunday afternoon we were invited to Emlyn's party at Doogoland (sp?) It is a new place that just opened off of 360 and sublett. It was a really cute place and all the kids had a great time. Hudson LOVED the room with a train table and car tracks and wanted to play in there almost the whole time. Nolan loved the race car game and the construction workers dress up clothes. It was fun and the parents were able to just relax and visit. Happy b-day Emlyn!

Cupcakes Make Everything Better...
Friday night Hudson walked right behind Nolan's swing and got hit in the face with the plastic part of the swing. It left a little bruise and a big scratch on his cheek and chin. (It actually looked worse on Saturday then it does in these pictures.) Hudson cried for a second but was okay but really started to cry hard when I wanted to wash his face...I guess a warm wash cloth is worse than smack in the mouth?!?! Anyways after that happened we decided to go for a walk up to the pond. MiMi had sent home some cupcakes that afternoon so we packed them up and took them with us. It was a nice evening with my sweet boys and Daisy. You can double click on the picture to see Hud's battle wounds a little better and the icing all over his face!!
PaPa's Boat
Scott's dad bought a fishing boat a few weeks ago. I forgot that Scott took pictures when they went out on it cause he took them with our little camera that is in the diaper bag. I thought I would post a few pics of their exciting day. Nolan drove the boat a lot while they were out on the water and LOVED it!

Egg Salad
I made egg salad sandwiches for dinner last week for Scott and the boys. I don't really care for egg salad because it has mayo in it and you all know how I feel about that - YUCK! But Scott likes it and it's quick and easy so I thought that the boys would probably eat it too. I was wrong - Hudson at least ate the toasted bread and the cheese from the sandwich. Nolan wanted nothing to do with it. He was actually keeping his cool, but trying very hard to think his way out of eating it. I tried to guilt him into it by saying I was making him something special, so I guess he felt like he needed to be polite in his refusal. He first picked at the other items on the plate and then said "I'm full". Of course I said "nope, eat 4 bites of your sandwich". He then responded "I'm really not hungry - I had a chicken nugget at lunch" when I just looked at him he then said "...and I forgot, I had gum after school." Seriously, one chicken nugget and gum? This kid is gonna be skinny forever! Ha ha! I again told him he had to eat it, by this time I had jumped up to get a wet rag to wash Hudson's hands. He finally took a few bites and then I heard "Oh Lord, here come the pickles..." (like the pickle relish in the egg salad just threw him over the edge) It was so funny cause he was so serious about the situation. I just had to hide my smile and pretend I didn't hear it. Finally, after about 10 minutes of this he ate the sandwich and said it was good when he finished it. Just another day...
